- Both must apply together in person to get a Marriage Licence and the accompanying Registration of Marriage to give to your officiant on your wedding day
- Must each bring with you when applying to your license
- Proof of age Gov't ID: birth certificates or passports
- Photo ID: drivers license (or age of majority card)
- If under 18, bring written parental consent
- Relevant immigrant status card, treaty status card, Canadian citizenship card etc.
- The Licence will expire 90 days (3-months) after issued
- The Licence needs the following information
- Both parties must provide their parents' full names and birth places
- Each partners SIN numbers,
- No photocopies of documents is accepted
- Originals or certified copies only
- This license gets signed by the following at your wedding
- Yourselves (the 2 people getting married)
- Your officiant or religious ceremony leader (Minister, Priest, Imam, ,Rabbi etc.)
- Your 2-witnesses and is then sent to the government by your Minister/ Priest/ Rabbi or officiant (within 48 hours) to confirm the wedding took place

MARRY AFTER DIVORCE, DISSOLUTION OR DEATH

- Proof of divorce or dissolution of union (court certified copies)

- If the original documents are in a language other than English, (English or French in Quebec) a certified translation is needed
- Manitoba accepts the following death-related documents as proof
- Certificate of Death or
- Funeral Home Statement of Death or
- obituary clipping from the newspaper (showing date of issue)
WHO CAN MARRY US
- Religious service: your registered religious representative of your choice or your congregation
- Civil service: Officiants who have been vetted by your province already
- In Manitoba, officiants are called Marriage Commissioner(s)
